You’ll find lots of lovely restaurants and pubs nearby on Waag Square, which is also the place where you can visit the traditional cheese market.

Hotel Location

You’ll find the hotel in the heart of Alkmaar’s historical town centre. If you come by train, it's a 10-minute walk to the Familie Hotel Alkmaar. Alkmaar is a traditional Dutch city, known for its authentic cheese markets in the summer season. You can visit the cheese market every Friday morning from 10:00 till 12:30 on Waag Square. The artist village of Bergen is nearby and you can see the work of various local artists in several galleries. Bergen also has lovely shops and a charming town centre. Within 15 minutes you can drive from the hotel to the coastal village of Bergen aan Zee and Egmond aan Zee, with their beaches along the North Sea. The capital of the Netherlands, Amsterdam, is only half an hour’s drive away. If you visit the Netherlands, you cannot forget to visit Amsterdam with its lovely canals, markets and art galleries.
