here you are close to the roaring north sea which from time to time shows its teeth along the sandy white beaches. if you prefer calm waters, the limfjord, the vandet lake and the nors lake are close by. the lakes are surrounded by woods and dune plantations with maps of the many paths suitable for hikes. if you cannot get enough, hanstholm is situated by the hanstholm nature reserve with a rich wildlife. furthermore hanstholm is one of the few places in denmark where you can see the sun go down twice on the same evening. hanstholm can also offer some historic sights from the second world war such as the bunkers which are littered all over the countryside. here you can also see the largest fortification in northern europe, which today is a museum about "atlantervolden".
